How do you breakup with someone that you've been in a relationship for with for 5 years?

my boyfriend and I have been together for 5 years and for the last 2 years its been a long distance relationship. he recently moved back to California and things haven't changed too much. he's a very nice guy and faithful, but he will not let go of his mother. he invites his mother to movies before me, she makes him come home at 11:30pm because she can't sleep while he's out with me and she's always taking up for him when someone judges him critically. he uses the fact that she's a single parent as an excuse everytime. Honestly, my boyfriend and I are in out mid 20's and I just feel like she's going too far and my boyfriend is boyfriend's defending her is becoming more and more common...help???How do you breakup with someone that you've been in a relationship for with for 5 years?
YOUR BOY FRIEND SOUNDS LIKE HE IS A MOMMA'S BOY TRUST ME HONEY I HAVE BEEN MARRIED 5 YEARS IN JULY WE LIVE NEXT DOOR TO HIS PARENTS HE IS THE SAME WAY THEY NEVER CHANGE I THOUGHT THAT ONCE WE WOULD GET MARRIED EVERYTHING WOULD CHANGE BUT IT NEVER ILL GIVE A EXAMPLE(ILL ASK HIM TO TAKE ME SOME WHERE AND EVERYTHING WILL BE FINE BUT IF HIS MOM ASKS HIM TO DO SOMETHING THAT TAKES A WHILE TO DO HE WILL TELL ME TO WAIT AND HELP HER I HAVE ASKED WHY HE DOES THIS AND HE SAYS HE DOESNT WANT TO MAKE HER MAD BUT THEN I THINK ITS OK TO MAKE ME MAD HE SAYS NO BUT THEY HELP US OUT ALOT IS HIS ANSWER BUT REALLY THEY DONT) IF YOUR HAVING PROBLEMS NOW THINKING HE IS A MOMMA'S BOY THEN IT ONLY GETS WORSE NEVER BETTERHow do you breakup with someone that you've been in a relationship for with for 5 years?
He is a mamma's boy for sure, I dated a guy like that and it never got better. I finally had to leave him. I think he still to this day lives with / around his mommy dearest.

DAAAMN THATS HARD. best way i can think of is to tell him flat out ';i'm sorry this is not gonna work out anymore. i can not be with you and have your mother involved in everything we do. its best we finally go our seprate ways. '; You both are adults. If he is gonna continue being such a momma's boy you AND him will never be happy. What if you both got married? he gonna take mommy on the honeymoon? what if you had kids? he gonna have to leave you alone because ';my mom called'; ?? you need someone more dependable.
